Earlier this month there was much excitement as the HACT team learnt that 30 students from our 2017 Peer Education programme have been awarded bursaries from the HCI Foundation towards their tertiary studies in 2018.
Every year, as part of its Peer Education programme, HACT runs career expos in local high schools in the Valley of 1000 Hills area with the aim of assisting students from these disadvantaged communities in identifying and applying for bursaries so that they can go on to tertiary study.
One such student is 18 year-old, Sipho Buthelezi (pictured left with HACT’s Peer Education Programme Manager, Sbu Mthethwa - right) from Khabazela High School who is now pursuing his dreams of studying a three year, BTech degree in internal auditing thanks to HACT and the HCI Foundation. “I’m very excited! I love maths and accounting and want to make my family proud. I want to thank HACT and HCI for giving me this opportunity!” says Sipho.
