Woza Moya Projects

Building of the new Woza Moya

The Woza Moya shop is in need of a serious face-lift and we have outgrown the space. With new and exciting craft coming in nearly every week we simply need more space (as well as a shop that doesn’t leak).

For World AIDS Day 2013 Woza Moya plans to teach our crafters to make origami cranes, we will then commission them to make over  7 000 which will be hung as an installation in one of the major shopping centres in KZN.

Dress for Princess Charleen

Terrence Bray commissioned beaded panels from our master beaders  Nkululeko Masi and Queeneth Ngcobo that was used in the “South Africa Wedding dress”  for Charleen’s South African wedding reception. And so began a wonderful relationship with Terrence Bray.

About mid-year 2013 Woza Moya is planning an exhibition of its top craftsmen/women who will be given an opportunity by the Department of Arts and Culture to show the world their best, most heartfelt work.

Largest beaded love letter in World.

The Moses Mabhiba stadium and the city of Durban put out a tender for artwork to hang in the Presidential Atruim at the stadium. Amongst 1000s of submissions Woza Moya’s concept was chosen… To bead the largest love letter in the World!

The Dreams for Africa Chair

This project has been on of Woza Moya’s most successful.   Woza Moya wanted to create a large piece of art that would involve all of our 160 crafters, bring attention to the income generation project and the Hillcrest AIDS Centre but most of all inspire.

The Green Suit

The Green Suit was made for Cop 17 and became the Cop 17 mascot. Designed by Terrence Bray a local /international designer,  It is made up of 400 beaded  panels made by the Woza Moya beaders!

The largest yarn bombed tree in Africa

For the last 3 years the focus of our big projects had been beadwork, for the 2012 project it was time for something different but no less exceptional. Outside the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust at 26 Old Main road is a very large Jacaranda tree, in 2012 Woza Moya decided to bomb it, yarn style.
